Hammond's exquisite plant forms preserved in wax recall the directness
of 19th century botanical specimens. Hammond's images are of hands,
built with real plants. Each leaf, like a fingerprint, has characteristics
of it's own, differing from every other leaf. The use of ferns,
one of nature's most ancient plants, and flowers, become visual
metaphors and are a tangible link between art and nature. |
